At Canadian School, forming conscious and compassionate students is a key part of our educational mission. That’s why our Grade 1 students took part in a meaningful learning experience through the project “Care, Don’t Waste, and Share,” combining classroom learning with real-world action to support those in need.
Throughout several weeks, our students reflected on food waste and the importance of responsible consumption. With the help of classroom discussions, visual organizers, and activities at home, they investigated what happens when food is close to expiring and how to identify which items are still safe to donate.
Learning by Doing
Working in teams, the children created infographics to share the facts they had learned, which they presented to other classrooms to spread the message schoolwide. Other groups designed posters that were placed in hallways as visual reminders of the campaign and its timeline.
Their work extended beyond the classroom. The project was shared during a Civic Ceremony, published on the school’s social media, and will also be featured on the Change Makers platform, as well as with the Querétaro Food Bank, Grade 1 families, and our school leadership.
A Collection with Purpose
Thanks to our collaboration with the Querétaro Food Bank, we received a container to collect rice and beans. Over the course of a week, students and teachers from the Primary section actively participated by bringing generous donations. The response from our school community was exceptional.
The project came to a close during the final Civic Ceremony of the school year, where we were joined by a representative from the Food Bank and members of the Parent Association. Together, we handed over the collected donations—celebrating the generosity and commitment of our students.
At Canadian School, we are proud to see our students not only learning important concepts, but also applying their knowledge to make a positive impact on the world around them. This project is a true example of how purpose-driven education leaves a lasting mark—both in our students’ hearts and in their communities.

Cuidar, no desperdiciar y compartir: un aprendizaje con impacto real
En Canadian School, formar estudiantes conscientes y solidarios es parte esencial de nuestro compromiso educativo. Por ello, los alumnos de Grade 1 vivieron una experiencia significativa a través del proyecto “Cuidar, No Desperdiciar y Compartir”, una iniciativa que unió el aprendizaje en el aula con acciones concretas a favor de quienes más lo necesitan.
A lo largo de varias semanas, nuestros estudiantes reflexionaron sobre el desperdicio de alimentos y la importancia del consumo responsable. Con ayuda de pláticas, esquemas visuales y actividades en casa, investigaron qué sucede con los productos que están por caducar y cómo identificar aquellos que aún pueden ser donados.
Aprender haciendo
Organizados por equipos, los niños crearon infografías con la información aprendida, que luego presentaron a otros salones para compartir su mensaje con toda la comunidad escolar. Otros grupos diseñaron carteles informativos que fueron colocados en los pasillos, recordando a todos la importancia de no desperdiciar y ser conscientes de nuestro consumo.
Este trabajo no solo se quedó en el aula: también fue compartido en la Ceremonia Cívica, en las redes sociales de la escuela, y será difundido a través del sitio Change Makers, al Banco de Alimentos de Querétaro, a las familias de Grade 1 y a nuestros directivos.
Una colecta con causa
Gracias a la colaboración con el Banco de Alimentos de Querétaro, recibimos un contenedor para recolectar arroz y frijol. Durante una semana, alumnos y maestras de toda la sección primaria se sumaron con entusiasmo a esta causa solidaria. La respuesta fue extraordinaria y reflejó, una vez más, la generosidad de nuestra comunidad.
El cierre del proyecto se vivió con gran emoción durante la última Ceremonia Cívica del ciclo escolar, donde contamos con la presencia de un representante del Banco de Alimentos y miembros de la Asociación de Padres de Familia. Juntos hicimos entrega de los donativos recolectados, celebrando el esfuerzo colectivo de nuestros alumnos.
En Canadian School, estamos orgullosos de ver cómo nuestras niñas y niños no solo aprenden conceptos, sino que aplican sus conocimientos para generar un cambio positivo en su entorno. Este proyecto es un ejemplo de cómo educar con propósito deja huella en el corazón de nuestros estudiantes y en el mundo que los rodea.
