Moving from one educational stage to another is always a significant milestone for children. It is a time filled with uncertainty and new challenges, but also excitement and opportunities for growth. Ensuring that this transition is smooth and meaningful during such an important stage of development is essential to our students’ success.
This year, we proudly celebrate the third anniversary of one of Early Years’ signature initiatives: the Early Years Passport to Primary (SK to G1) program. Designed to provide a gradual and supportive transition, this initiative helps both students and their families confidently move from Early Years to Elementary at Canadian School.
Our Key Objectives
Over the past three years, the program has become an essential part of our transition process by:
- Building Confidence and Reducing Anxiety: Preparing students for this important milestone by helping them feel comfortable, confident, and excited about their new learning environment from day one.
- Supporting Student Retention: Ensuring a seamless transition from Early Years to Elementary, encouraging students to continue their educational journey within the Canadian School community.
- Providing Comprehensive Family Support: We believe successful transitions involve the entire family. Through thoughtfully planned experiences—including the Elementary information session, G1 recess visits, visits to Elementary specialty classes, classroom visits, the Meet Your Future Teacher activity, visits to the school store, guidance on daily routines such as purchasing snacks and where to sit, academic collaboration between Senior Kindergarten and Grade 1, and activities designed to prepare students for the journey to G1—we help families feel informed, supported, and confident about the next stage of their child’s education.
Creating a transition that feels natural, safe, and welcoming has been the foundation of this program since its inception. We extend our sincere appreciation to our Student Support Team, Early Years teachers, Early Years Principals, and the Elementary team for their collaboration and commitment over the past three years in building such a strong bridge toward our students’ future success.

Conectando Etapas: El Éxito del Programa Early Years Passport to G1
El cambio de etapa educativa siempre representa un desafío para los niños; un momento lleno de incertidumbres y miedos, pero también de ilusiones y grandes expectativas. Lograr que esta transición se realice de forma natural en las etapas más sensibles del desarrollo es un reto fundamental para alcanzar la madurez de nuestros alumnos.
Por ello, celebramos el tercer aniversario de una iniciativa única en Early Years: el proyecto “Early Years Passport to Primary” (Passport de SK a G1). Este programa fue diseñado con un enfoque gradual y lleno de significado para acompañar a los niños y a sus familias en su paso hacia Elementary en Canadian School.
Nuestros Grandes Objetivos:
A lo largo de estos tres años, el programa ha demostrado ser una herramienta clave para:
- Reducir la Ansiedad y Dar Confianza: Preparamos a los estudiantes para este hito, disminuyendo sus temores y asegurando una mayor seguridad al llegar a su nuevo espacio. Esto garantiza una mejor disposición para el aprendizaje desde sus primeras semanas.
- Garantizar la Continuidad (Retención): Aseguramos la permanencia de todos nuestros estudiantes de Early Years en su transición a Elementary, consolidando su trayecto educativo con nosotros.
- Acompañamiento Integral a Familias: No solo preparamos a los niños, sino también a los padres. A través de actividades estratégicas como la plática informativa de Elementary, visita a recreos en G1, visita a clases especiales en Elementary, visita a su futuro salón de clases en G1, meet your future teacher activity, visitas a la Tiendita de la escuela, y acompañamiento para saber como comprar, donde sentarse, etc., vinculación académica de SK y G1, y promoción de actividades de SK hacia el camino a G1, brindamos a las familias la confianza necesaria y les compartimos las expectativas de este nuevo nivel escolar.
Trabajar para que esta transición sea natural, segura y amigable es la clave de este proyecto. Gracias a la colaboración de los equipos de SST de Early Years, teachers, EY Principals y a Elementary que confió en nuestra sección desde hace tres años, para crear este puente tan sólido hacia el futuro de nuestros niños de preescolar.
