Every year, as part of Canadian School Guadalajara’s Reading Week, our Jr. High and High School students have the opportunity to participate in the Reading Marathon organized by the campus Learning Commons team.
This year, the activities took place from November 10 to 14, with the enthusiastic participation of more than twenty students from 6th to 9th grade. Each student committed to reading daily for a set period of time and sharing their progress, reflections, and impressions.
In addition to the enriching experience that reading provides, our participants were invited to collaborate with Patitas de Ayuda A.C., a nonprofit organization that promotes the responsible care of pets and carries out social work with service and therapy animals in various institutions and hospitals.
Each student who registered for the program and completed all assigned activities had the opportunity to attend a special visit from the association on November 19. During this visit, they received a talk on pet care, learned about the important work support animals do to improve people’s quality of life, and enjoyed spending time with Yeti, Sammy, Rico, and Kiara, while also engaging in conversations with their trainers.
Without a doubt, the 2025 “Paws to Read” Reading Marathon was a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved.

Cada año, en el marco de la Reading week del Canadian School Guadalajara, nuestros alumnos de Jr High y High School tienen la oportunidad de participar en el Maratón de lectura organizado por el área de learning commons del campus.
En esta ocasión, las actividades se realizaron del 10 al 14 de noviembre con la participación de más de una veintena de estudiantes desde 6to hasta 9no grado, que de manera entusiasta, asumieron el reto de leer diariamente por un espacio de tiempo y compartir sus resultados e impresiones.
Además de la interesante experiencia que brinda la lectura, se invitó a nuestros participantes a colaborar con “Patitas de Ayuda A.C.”, una asociación sin fines de lucro que promueve el cuidado responsable de las mascotas, además de realizar labores sociales con animales de servicio y terapia en diferentes instituciones y hospitales.
Cada uno de los alumnos que se inscribió al programa y cumplió de manera satisfactoria con las actividades asignadas, tuvo la oportunidad de participar el 19 de noviembre en a la visita que nos hicieron por parte de la asociación, en dónde, además de recibir una charla sobre el cuidado de nuestras mascotas y la importante labor que realizan los animales de apoyo para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas, pudieron convivir y disfrutar un rato ameno con Yeti, Sammy, Rico y Kiara así como platicar de forma más cercana con sus entrenadores.
Definitivamente, el Maratón de Lectura “Paws to read” 2025 fue una experiencia memorable y enriquecedora para todos.
